Privacy Policy
This policy explains how St Nicholas Church, Little Chishill, looks after the personal information you give us through this website, and what your rights are. We are committed to keeping your information safe and using it only for the purposes set out below.
Who we are
St Nicholas Church, Little Chishill, is a parish church in the Diocese of Chelmsford. The Parochial Church Council (PCC) is responsible for the personal information collected through this site. You can contact us at stnicholaschurchlittlechishill@gmail.com.
The information we collect
We only collect what we need. Depending on how you use the site, that may include:
• Your name, email address and message, when you use our contact form or email us.
• Your name, delivery address, email address and order details, when you buy from our shop.
• Your name and details of your gift, when you make a donation, and your name and home address if you complete a Gift Aid declaration.
• Basic technical information collected by our website platform, such as cookies, to help the site work and to understand how it is used.
We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we do not collect sensitive personal information through this site.
How we use your information
We use your information to reply to your enquiry, to process and deliver your order, to receive and acknowledge your donation, to claim Gift Aid where you have asked us to, and to keep proper records. Our lawful bases for doing this are your consent, taking steps you have asked for such as fulfilling an order, and our legitimate interest in running the church and its activities. We do not use your information for marketing without your agreement, and we never sell it.
Who we share it with
We share your information only where we need to, and only with organisations that help us run the site and its services. These include our website and shop platform (Wix), our payment provider, who handles card payments securely, a delivery service such as Royal Mail for posting orders, and HM Revenue and Customs where we claim Gift Aid. We may also share information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only for as long as we need it. Enquiry messages are kept while we deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards. Order and donation records, including Gift Aid declarations, are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, which is normally around six years.
Cookies
Like most websites, this site uses cookies, which are small files stored on your device, to help it work properly and to understand how visitors use it. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Turning some cookies off may affect how parts of the site work.
Keeping your information safe
We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure. Card payments are handled by our payment provider through a secure connection, and we never see or store your full card details.
Your rights
Under data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to ask us to delete it where we no longer need it, and to object to certain uses. To make a request, please email us at stnicholaschurchlittlechishill@gmail.com. If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
